In a modern world where gyms, factories, and light bulbs have taken the place of the lifestyle humans are evolved to live, the fitness industry is makes everything more confusing than ever. For those of you who truly want to be your strongest, fastest, and most proficient? That world of (sports) performance gets even more confusing. I was once the guy who burned out from eight years of running competitively year-round in high school and college. It took me 18 months to recover from burnout and 9 months of pure experimentation and working through confusion to even stand a chance at being the all-around athlete I wanted to be. I had to figure out how to get stronger, train for obstacle course racing, and stay in marathon shape. I had to learn how to make the most of some four hour training days while managing the stress of my everyday life. I had to learn how to cope with performance pressure. The hardest part of this was not finding reasonable advice. The hardest part was finding a way to apply the biological, psychological, and spiritual principles in a way that is sustainable and aligned with my core values. Six years later, I have risen to the ranks of an Obstacle Racing World Championship elite race competitor in the 15k Standard Course Event, a 4x Boston Marathon qualifier, and a 425-pound deadlifter with four top-20% finishes in the CrossFit Open. While leading by example and figuring myself out as an athlete has been important to me, helping others has been at the core of my mission all along. I got a Master's Degree in Sport Psychology at Florida State University in April 2021, then went on to get the NASM-CPT in January 2022. Since then, I spent 14 months coaching online at Kickoff and working with trial clients before starting this independently-run practice. I guide my work with clients on one core principle: The biopsychosocial model. This is a fancy word for approaching each client with a nonjudgmental understanding of the unique biological, psychological, and social conditions that drive their daily decisions and factor into their overall wellness and performance. If you are looking to stop bouncing from program-to-program and see the performance breakthrough you are yearning for, I have been there and I am here for you. It is time to stop letting YouTube videos, Instagram reels, or group classes do the heavy lifting. Let's work together to find the approach that is personalized, evidence-based, and sustainable for your goals and dreams.
